Goal Number 57: Join a Gym - Completed!

Actually, my mom bought this gym membership for my sister and I, promising that she would continue to pay for it as long as we used it.

I went last night for an hour and ran on the tredmill, plus did some elyptical. Though I'm confident in my body (free at last from insecurities!), I haven't been feeling healthy. And this will help.

Goal Number 150: Buy my dad a real Christmas gift - Completed!

Usually, I buy my dad something like shirts for Christmas, and I used to give him my school picture every year. Hello, generic and boring, I'm Stephanie. How very nice to meet you here again.

This year, my sister and I (and Ben) got him a digital portable picture frame, which I used to put pictures of my sister and I on it.

He's going to love it.

Weeks Lucky Thirteen and Fourteen: So much to do, so little time!

I depart in a week and six days for my cruise, so I'm going to combine these two weeks into one posting.

Goal Number 87: Act like the rich bitches my sister and I aren't on our cruise.
My sister and I are not at all rich. Or, for that matter, bitches. Our Daddy is not the most extravagent man in the world. He doesn't go 'all out' for ANYTHING except travel. On the trips we've taken to Disney, we rented our own huge house with our own pool and hottub. This time, we have penthouse suite and VIP status, whatever that means. We normally live in the lower class, ahem, but for four days we're going to get a taste of the high life. Mmmmhmmmmm.

Goal Number 4: Swim with dolphins.
Daddy promised. 'Nuff said.

Goal Number 44: Swim in clear blue water.
Please!

Goal Number 61: Do something epic for my birthday.
I asked my friends to clear their scheduals. Now I just have to figure out what's epic enough for me.

Goal Number 62: Spend New Year's with my friends.

New blog!

I've begun a new venture, as they say, since this blog o' mine was beginning to vear off into more rant mode than goal mode, a direction I did not want. So, if you'd like to add my random blog (aka fashion, food, friends, family, adventures, life-as-I-know-it blog), please feel free to do so!

It's Always Sunny in Massachusetts, my new blogbaby.

Week Twelve: Christmastime is upon us!

No, seriously. When did it sneak up on me like this?!

I never completed either of my goals last week. Phooey on me. I can list off a billion excuses for this, but I'll spare you and just chalk it up to my own neglect. Oh well. They'll be done eventually.

Goal Number 6: Sit through a movie marathon with a best girl friend.
Once upon a time, an old friend of mine broke up with her first serious boyfriend. Distraught followed, as it often does with sophomores of high school, and her and her two best friends, me and another girl, sat through a movie marathon together. One all nighter and nine movies later, I can't sit still through one movie, never mind three. Three is my goal.

And, in relation to that...
Goal Number 16: Sit through an entire Lord of the Rings movie.
FML on this one. I fast-forwarded through the entire series on my fourteenth birthday with my cousins. I basically got that a tree walks, battle scenes, walking walking walking, boring boring boring. But I get just short of smacked every time I say I've never officially seen it, so here goes nothing.

Goal Number 18: Host a movie night.
Maybe I can change this one to plan a movie night, since I'm not the one with the giant HDTV in my living room. Oh, Samaaaaaantha!

Goal Number 147: Make a list of 20 movies people are astonished to learn that I've never seen and watch them all.
Topping this list would be The Goonies.

Winter weather means movie time.

Oh, lookie here! An award!

Big thanks to Kathy and Seashell from Two Hands Full of Daisies for this award. They're so good to me!

So, I have to write ten things that make me happy, then tag ten friends? Well, I only have five followers, so you're ALL winners!

Things that make me happy:

1. When my boyfriend treats me well, which is basically all the time.

2. The fact that I'm going on my first cruise ever with my father, sister and grandmother in exactly three weeks. Which, to add, only leaves me three weeks to get ready...

3. Mindless television, like iCarly and Family Guy.

4. My family, my friends, and my boyfriend's family, especially when everyone is getting along.

5. The fact that I'm getting a better hold on my life. I haven't ever felt this positive about my future before.

6. My new iPod.

7. Living in such a beautiful place, close to the beach and the mountains.

8. Snowboarding.

9. My two dogs and two cats, Chloe, Oliver, Floyd and FiFi.

10. Happy dreams. :)

Thank you again!

Week Eleven: A funeral and goals this week.

My family is huge. I have aunts, uncles, cousins (of the first, second, third and fourth varieties), grandparents, great-grandparents, great-other-relatives, so forth and so on that I see on a semi-regular basis. We all, with one or two exceptions, live in New England, centralized, naturally, on Cape Cod and Nantucket.

I'm famous for saying 'my cousin once did', my friends stopping me to ask me this cousin's name and my connection to him or her. Example:
Me: "Oh my God, this one time, my cousin and I--"
Samantha: "Which cousin?"
Me: "Hayley. The one that's closest to me in age and lives in Vermont and is my mom's mom's sister's daughter?"
You get the picture.

Anyway, with a family so large, there is always something going on. For example, my Aunt Karen (aunt by association, that is. She's so close to our family she's like my mother's sister) called my mother the other day in tears because my cousin, Ryan, failed at life once again. "Oh, Stacey, it's just awful! Ryan had a friend over when he wasn't supposed to and I kicked him out!" Now, my remedy for this is that you just send the boy to military school, or juvi, and be done with him.

My point is, that there's always some sort of thing going on. This week, it's a funeral.

Now, some of you may remember last month, an aunt of mine died of swine flu, ahem, H1N1. I wasn't close to her, as she ran away from the family a long time ago, but I am close to her daughter. However, this time, it's a little more serious.

Ready? Because I'm only going to say this once.

My mom's dad's brother's wife passed away yesterday from pneumonia, and I remember her so very well because she always came over here from the island to celebrate events with us like birthdays and weddings and Christenings, her daughter, Danielle, and my mom are very close and Joanne, my aunt that just died, loved me and loved to talk to me about my life and really seemed to care, not just in that 'I'm curious' sort of way, but a real way.

Long story short, I will be attending her funeral. It really sucks, especially for my Uncle Danny. They were married forever, your typical old island couple, and they were best friends. She was too young. I assume she was about sixty.

That turned out longer than I had planned... Side note, though, I'm thinking about starting an entirely separate journal for these random thoughts and going-ons in my life. Anyone opposed?

Anyway, goals for this week are!

Goal Number 150: Buy my dad a real Christmas gift.
I have gifts.com to thank for making this goal easier. Seriously, I'll leave a link at the bottom of my post today. You plug in what the occasion is, your budget, the giftee's age, personality and relation to the gifter, and the website magically shows you pictures and gives you links to pages and pages of potential gift items. Some of the gifts are unusual, perfect for those who have everything and claim they don't want anything else. Like my dad.

Goal Number 93: Convince Mom to kick Rob out so I can move into his room.
Long story short: Mom sublets rooms in our house to make a little extra money. She and my father have since before they got divorced. Daddy doesn't do it anymore since he makes enough money to support himself, but Mama still does. However, this renter, Rob, is "a total creeper" as my friends put it. Although, good news! He sent my mom a text the other day saying that his need in the room may change, as he is hoping to move in with his girlfriend next month. HELLO BASICALLY-MY-OWN-STUDIO. Okay. It's a room. But it's twice as big as my bedroom with a kitchenette, a double bed, and a private entrance. Plus, cable hookup. Some decorating/deorderizing will be in order, but it's workable.

PS: Don't feel bad for me about losing my aunt. I've lost a lot of people in my life and been to way too many funerals for someone my age, but death is just a part of life. I've accepted that. I mean, it's tragic and it sucks, but it is what it is.

PPS: I've solved your gift-giving qualms. You can thank me later.

Hey! You! Yeah, you in front of the computer!

Go check out (clever title goes here) right now. Jenni's blog is a great read.

Do it or sparkly vampires will get you. Or, if that's what you want, they will get you.
It's a win-win...

Week Ten: I guess my computer is not okay with typing today. Sorry for any screwups!

I'm getting a new iPod today! I splurged on 'cyber Monday' sales and bought a brand new (not refurbished!) 32gb iPod touch 3rd generation. That's the second largest, newest kind, thank you very much! A luxury I'm certainly not used to having. I have to go pick it up when Benji gets out of class. Ah excitement.

Anyway, I have to do some Christmas shopping this week. Preferably today for all of the cyber Monday sales, but other than that I'm back on my blogging regime.

Goal Number 91: Be more harsh with myself when buying needless things.
Dear Stephanie, please do not load up your online shopping cart with things YOU want. Christmas is about giving. Love, your wallet.

Goal Number 9/38: Gain confidence in a bikini/Be able to look into a mirror and not critize my bulgy hips/stomach.
This one will take longer than a week, but will most likely take THE MOST determination and concentration. My goal is to have this completed by January 3rd*, the night before I leave for Miami, so I can try on my bathing suit in my room at my father's and look at myself and (believe! know!) think I'm a babe.

Double digits with the weeks means only 42 weeks left to complete... a whole heck of a lot of goals. I'm still having fun!

*This gives me 1 month and 4 days. I have a plan, though, which is basically the same as my plan I did in the Spring to lose all that weight for prom.
Monday-Saturday: No snackaroos that aren't, like, fruit. No cookies, no overloaded coffee drinks, none of that. Carrots dipped in ranch dressing, trail mix...
Sunday: Indulgence day. Small piece of cake, whatever. No guilt day, glutton day, whatever it is you want to call it.
Err'day: Park a little farther from the entrance to wherever I'm going. Take a walk, do something, anything to get moving. SERIOUSLY.

Week Nine: I meant to post this a long time ago!

I have to take a mini hiatus.

I KNOW I KNOW. There's nothing keeping me from doing my goals, but!

1. I have to finish this Christmas list for my father. The man wants it ASAP, which is fine, but I can't think of anything I really, truly need that falls within my budget.

2. My friends are in town and I've been spending as much time as humanly possible with them before they go back to the land of (real) academia.

3. It's Thanksgiving (HAPPY EATING!) and I've been busy. And now I'm going to be busy shopping for Christmas and, only two weeks after that, I'm going on my first cruise. Yippee!

Before I say goodbye, I want to say that I'm thankful for my family, my friends, electricity, every person in the world, and love in general. Thank you and I'll be back to blogging as soon as I can!

Try not to miss me too much!

Tis the season for jacket shopping, fa-la-la-la-la....

While I'm sitting here helping Ben write his speech for Human Communications 101, I decided to share with you my purchase of the day.

My friend Sam and I decided to go shopping today, and we stopped by our local PacSun. Now, I'm not a label snob, except for in that store. I refuse to buy anything made by Fox Racing, and I'm very picky about anything that is not Roxy. It's pretty sad of me, but hey!

Anyway, this is what I ended up with, on sale for 49.99:

Now if only the weather would get a little colder. And snow would be divine...

I have ten minutes to kill.

I've been in kind of a strange mood today, but it started when a friend-of-a-friend walked into the cafe. I tend to pick up bad vibes, and we ended up ranting about things that just put me in a bad mood.

So I sent a text message to one of my good friends, Adam, who always listens objectively. Most of the time it's nice because it's nice to have someone to tell you things straightforward rather than "Stephanie, you are so right" even when I am so wrong. Adam's the type of guy who will let me know when I'm wrong, but not in a mean way, just in a way like "you're wrong and you need to fix it". Anyway, I'm going to call Adam soon and just vent for a little bit. I miss him.

Hopefully talking to him will cheer me up, and if not, I have this weekend to think about. It's our two year anniversary, and I swear, I have the best boyfriend in the world. He's taking me to stay in a lighthouse on Rose Island off of Newport. He told me he thinks I deserve an escape. I feel so lucky, you don't even know.

It's almost time for me to duck out. My mom is babysitting our former neighbor's kids tonight. She was only supposed to watch the youngest two, but I guess the oldest is here too. And I don't want to listen to her problems tonight, I wanna talk about my owwwwwn.

Selfish night. We're all aloud one, right?

Week Eight: "There are people who get mauled by tigers who get off easier than that lady".

Dear Cape Cod Community College,
I hate you. I want to leave you and go to Boston. Please cooperate with me.
XOXO,
Stephanie

I honestly can't think of any goals I want to do this week. Maybe I'll sit through an entire game of Monopoly. That'll be a challenge seeing as Monopoly frustrates me. The last time I tried to play I was in my friend's basement at his parents party and I ended up just playing with his dogs, which I swear didn't even like me. I was twelve, but still. Sucks.

I don't know why I'm in such a blah mood right now. Oh well, I'm sleepy, it's Monday and I need to go eat something, plus I'm a little concernicous about a couple friends. And I'm missing Alli and Adam really bad right now.

I'm going to Facebook both of them so I can feel a little better.

Goal Number 129: Go on a Big Date - Completed!

Ben and I just got back to my house after our big date, and man did we love it. We ate dinner at the cafe, and it was delicious. We shared an appetizer of prosciutto e fresca fruita (Italian ham with fresh fruit), and I had fettucini bolognese (fettucini with meat sauce) and Ben had penne, which we can't remember how to pronounce.

It was so so nice. We sat at my favorite corner table next to the window, and we sat and talked for two hours (missing our movie). We talked about everything, past, pressent and future. And about halfway through the meal he just turned to me and told me how much he's enjoyed our relationship. How great it's been. To which I laughed and asked if he were breaking up with me. A no, of course. And he added "that would be mean, letting you pay for dinner just to dump you". Uh, yeah. Just a lot.

Here, because I'm bored and in love, some pictures that are probably too big for the entry frame. Oh well, enjoy anyway!

The day I got my belly button pierced, I let Steven sit in the front (a reward for sitting in the parlor while I got stabbed) and I took several stupid pictures of myself.

Ben and one of my best friends, Adam.

Floyd, Benny's kitten.

Vinny, who got me the job at the Cafe.

That's all for now!

Tonight is gonna be a good, good night.

Tonight, Benji and I are going on a 'big date'! We're going to go see a movie, hopefully there's something good playing, and we're going to go out to dinner at the cafe. I'm so excited! I'm going to wear my loverly new dress, black tights and black mini heels. And my Northface, which I haven't worn in awhile. I sure hope it still fits.

I don't think I've ever posted a picture of Ben and I. So here we are!

But the real reason I was updating was to talk about how much better I feel about myself. Over the past few weeks, I feel way more confident than I ever have. I still have my things I hate about my body, but don't we all? At least I'm working on it. I've also been buying clothes that I feel comfortable in. In other words, I've been shopping for my body now, not what I want it to be. And it's working. Seriously. :)

Goal Number 35: Get These Kittens Out of My Room - Completed!

Okay, fair is fair. These kittens have technically been out of my room for a few weeks, but my room was still trashed. I should have worn a HAZMAT suit while I was cleaning it, but hey, I'm still breathing.

But guess what?! Two hours, five bags of garbage, and three loads of laundry later, I'm done. My room feels like mine again! My bed is all made, my mirror is decorated, my things are all in their places!

Okay, this 'complete' might be a little premature. I still need to gather my hair straightener and welcome it to my room ("Hello, Conair Dryer, meet Chi Straightener. I know she's a little snobby, but you'll get used to her. She makes my hair silky smooth and straight, you'll love her!") and put away my entire collection of clothes that have been hanging out all over my house. I never realized I had so many! It's going to take, like, a half hour! And the pasta at Sweet Tomatoes is calling my name! I can hear it!

...I guess I have time to finish. Darn.

Help a fellow blogger out!

Please help out one of my blogtastic friends, monogramgirl, who writes the blog A Nantucket State of Mind and check out this auction to support CVS: Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. The auction opens tomorrow morning! Go go go!

Clicky clicky!

Goal Number 121+122: Copy and Duplicate my Mom's Cranberry Bread Recipe - Completed!

Yesterday, Ben and I had nothing to do. It was absolutely wonderful. We slept in until about 11:30 (without getting woken up by his brother and his brother's girlfried, who are loud and frankly, quite rude when you ask them to be quiet) because I had felt sick the night before and didn't want to move from my couch to his bed 2.5 miles away. My couch to my bed was a nice 30 feet.

So we went to the super market and got all the ingrediants we needed for peanut butter and jelly cookies, and cranberry bread!

Here, for your cooking pleasure, is my mother's famous recipe for cranberry bread. Drumroll, please!:

You'll need
3/4 cup orange juice
2 tbs butter, melted
1 egg
1 cup sugar
1 cup cranberries
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (optional, and my sister and I always opt out)
2 cups flour, sifted
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda

And you'll need to
1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
2. Beat together the orange juice and butter.
3. Add sugar and mix, then add cranberries and walnuts.
4. In seperate bowl, mix flour, salt and baking soda.
5. Stir flour/salt/baking soda mixture into the liquid mixture and mix together with a spoon.
6. Spoon into buttered 9x5 bread pan.
7. Bake for one hour.

And finally, enjoy!

Here is the cranberry bread, located next to our delicious peanut butter and jelly cookies. Yesterday was just a wonderful day for baking, it was cloudy and windy and just a good day to stay inside.

Week Seven: I finally took a day off for myself.

You heard right! Tomorrow, Tuesday, I will not have to work or go to school. Plus, Benji works from nine in the morning to nine at night, so I will have all the freedom in the world. Watch me crinkle my nose, though, at what I need to get acomplished during these precious few hours.

1. Write a persuasive speech on a topic I have yet to choose.
2. Write a 8-10 page paper on my grandmother's life.
3. Research and put together a presentation on depression. Luckily, this project involves three other people, so the thirty minute presentation doesn't fall entirely on my shoulders.
4. Complete a take-home exam for US History.

I'm not exactly worried about all this. Since unofficially dropping out of my math class (I'm still enrolled but since the looming F seems to be getting closer) the stress is almost gone. I'm able to focus more clearly on the three classes I'm doing well in-and my goal is to continue doing so incredibly well so my GPA doesn't blow up in my transferring face. I want O-U-T.

Anyway, this week's goals!

Goal Number 112: Whiten My Teeth.
The other night, my mom called me into her room. She asked if I had been brushing my teeth. After I was done whining (MOOOO-OOOOOM) I told her that yes, I have been brushing my teeth two, if not three times daily. She asked how much coffee I have been drinking, and for a stressed out college student, it isn't much. She asked if I were smoking, to which I laughed and replied with an honest no. I hate the smell. So she suggested I invest in whitening my teeth, because her teeth have always been on the yellow side, too. And anyway, who doesn't want a bedazzling smile?

Goal Number 121+122 (another one? Woah.): Get and Copy my Mom's Recipe for Cranberry Bread.
My favorite thing about the Thanksgiving season is my mom's cranberry bread. She bakes loaves of it every year, and I just can't get enough. Unhealthy and terrible dieting as it is, I could sit there and eat an entire loaf. It's that good.

Plus, I found another typo. It seems as though I really wanted that vintage dress-I put it twice on my list, once at 99 and once at 170. As a result, I'm moving one of my replacement goals up to the 170 spot. Hasta la vista!

I have another hour for break and then psych later this afternoon. I'll be catching up on blogs at some point tomorrow during my day of working almost exclusively at my laptop!

Saturday, November 7, 2009

Goal Number 99: Buy a Vintage Dress - Completed!

Off of Amazon, I have purchased this baby

a "50's Rockabilly Tux Ruffle Sundress".

I have a thing for dresses anyway. I own way, way, way too many of them, but I have a shortage of 'little black dress'es. This will be a nice little edition to my collection. You know, some people love shoes, some love handbags. I love dresses.

Now, to match I could use some little black flats, a little black bag, a little black sweater...

Pictures from Goal Number 121: Carve a Pumpkin!

"No more pictures!"

It's a man's job to get out all the gross guts.

Mine is in the front, Ben's in the back.

Glowing!

Week Six: Shopping Goals, anyone?

Goal Number 99: Buy a vintage dress.
Have you ever been on unique-vintage.com? Well, they're really cute vintage dresses. I love the 50s rockabilly dresses. Since seeing them while I was searching for prom dresses last year, I fell in love. And I'm craving one.

Goal Number 90: Obtain a credit card and be responsible with it.
With the state of the economy lately, and the state of my mom's complaints, I've realized how important it is to be responsible with credit. And if I ever want anything later in life, I better freakin' have good credit, or I'm not going to be able to get it. I plan on paying it off at the end of every month (I know, credit card companies are going to HATE me) so I'll be safe. I know that credit cards are not 'magic money cards', like some people think.

And, mini goal: FInd the perfect anniversary gift for Ben.
I'm thinking Monin syrups. The boy loves Italian sodas. And beef jerkey. And venicin. I'm thinking a big bag full of random food things he loves.

And, I'd like to pass on my award! I'd like to pass on the Over The Top award to Amy, writer of kelinda.KELINDA. She's so sweet and she takes pictures of her beautiful outfits every day to share with the world! Amy, you now have the honor of displaying this award in your blog and have the choice to answer the famous 35 questions.

Goal Numbers 49+130: Dress up and throw a mini Halloween party - Completed!

As you know, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. This year, my friend Sam and I decided to throw a little party and get dressed up. She dressed as an angel, and I dressed as a fairy princess. Don't worry, pictures are coming at some point.

We managed to cook some food, and the party was a success! Her friends James, Bryan, Steven and Tara came, and our mutual friends Dylan and Ethan, and my friends Cat, Kelli, Jack, Jared, Lis and Nick. Plus, of course, Ben was there. We ate, took pictures, walked around the neighborhood, then took a walk through a graveyard. It wasn't very scary, but then we decided to walk through the woods at Burgess Park. Yes. Scary. Dylan and Ethan ran ahead to scare us, but we ended up taking a different path, so we lost them for a good fourty-five minutes.

Overall, it was a success. I'll have a picture post update soon, I swear. I seem to be running out of time lately.

Drum roll, please!

Lookie what I got!

Thank you so much to Jenni over at (clever title goes here)! I love the encouragement I've started to get from many readers around the blogspace! If I could give you all a big hug, I would. Seriously.

Now, the 35 Questions.

1. Where is your cell phone?
Sitting right next to my laptop.

2. Your hair?
My hair is wavy, brown, and unruly. I can only successfully straighten the right side, the left side rebels and prefers to stay wavy. It's past my shoulders, finally, and I'm going to grow it past my shoulder blades/long enough to donate for the third time to Locks of Love.

3. Your Mother?
Most likely at work somewhere in Dennis. She's a homemaker and visits all the elderly folk around the Cape, cleaning up after them and hanging out with them, keeping them company while they watch daytime TV.

4. Your Father?
He's presumably at work in Hyannis, Nantucket, Eastham, Sandwich or Yarmouth. My parents have been divorced almost ten years, and he lives in New Bedford. I don't see him as often as I used to, so he's harder to keep track of.

5. Your favorite food?
Ice cream! Cheese raviolis! Anything that being lactose intolerant should prevent me from having, but I eat anyway cause I just looove it so much. Even now I'm sitting here cursing how delicious bagels with cream cheese are. Owwwww...

6. Your dream from last night?
I honestly can't remember.

7. Your favorite drink?
Coconut strawberry Italian sodas, but only if I make them. I also enjoy really chocolatey hot chocolate, peppermint mochas, and water. Oh boy, I love water.

8. Your dream/goal?
To be happy wherever my life ends up.

9. What room are you in?
The "quiet study" room of the library at Cape Cod Community College, even though I have no homework to be doing. I love this place for it's peace and quiet.

10. What are your hobbies?
Snowboaridng, surfing (the waves and the web), learning, writing, reading, Facebooking, shopping, dreaming...

11. What is your fear?
Tragedy, of any kind.

12. Where do you want to be in 6 years?
In six years I'll be almost 25. So I'll answer that with on a plane to anywhere. My twenties are going to be full of traveling, if I get my way!

13. Where were you last night?
In bed by 8:30, watching Dilbert.

14. Something you are not?
Patient. Especially when someone mutters the word surprise.

15. Muffins?
Cranberry, please!

16. Wish List Items?
I haven't made a wich list yet. I don't really get it. Could someone please explain?!

17. Where did you grow up?
Same little house I live in now, on Cape Cod.

18. Last thing you did?
Talked to my long lost favorite cousin, Hayley, on Facebook. I haven't spoken to her in maybe three years because she's been shipped from one problem house to the next. Finally I think she's found some stability. Her mom just died of swine flu, so we were talking about that. :(

19. What are you wearing?
American Eagle jeans, Hollister sweatshirt (my first Hollister purchase), tank top, and flip flops.

20. Your TV?
Personally, I don't have one. I got rid of it years ago. I do, however, watch my mother's TV and my boyfriend's family's TV.

21. Your pets?
Five cats. Floyd, Fifi, and Hayley (not the same as my cousin!) live at my mother's, and Sadie and CiCi live at my dad's. Two dogs, Oliver and Chloe.

22. Your friends?
Benji, Sam, Ethan, Adam, Jared, Jack, Parisa, Vinny, Lis, Samantha, Nick, Laurel, Kevin, Cat, Alli, Twig.

23. Your life?
Zero complaints. I love my life.

24. Your mood?
Annoyed, since I have to go to stupid ol' math in twenty minutes. But overall, I'm happy.

25. Missing Someone?
Hayley, the cousin one, not the cat one.

26. Vehicle?
2005 powder blue Ford Mustang.

27. Something you're not wearing?
Makeup.

28. Your favorite store?
Anything online.

29. Your favorite color?
Pink.

30. Last time you laughed?
Half hour ago-ish.

31. Last time you cried?
The night before last.

32. Your best friend?
Benji, and everyone else.

33. One place you go to over and over?
Disneyworld.

34. One person who emails you regularly?
Facebook with notifications.

35. Favorite place to eat?
Sam Diego's. Fried ice cream, end of story.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Again, thank you so much! I'll be back posting later this afternoon. I had to take an unexpected hiatus when the Halloween activities began (which means goals have been completed!), my mom's aunt died of swine flu, and school started getting difficult. Yesterday I wrote a five page research paper on the late great Karen Horney.
I'll catch up on this project and catch up on all of you later!
...and a big hello to my new followers. Welcome!
Goal Number 120+121: Pumpkin Pick/Carve a Pumpkin - Completed!
Benji and I went to Lambert's today, where we did not find the 'perfect pumpkin'. So we made our way down to Mahoney's where we found two picture perfect pumpkins to bring home and carve.
And so we did! We got to his house, he showered, and we set up the newspapers on his dining room table. We got right down to business. He was done with his top before I had gotten even halfway. He's good at getting the guts out, and I get distracted too easily by how yucky it feels.
I carved mine all cutesy and Ben carved his scary. He found a mini hatchet (I guess it's a cheese knife?) and stuck it in the head. Shelley's was by far the best- she handcarved Boo! in her pumpkin. And didn't even use a sketch.
Week Five: Halloween Week!
I am the world's biggest fan of Halloween. Getting dressed up, candy, cupcakes, best friends, the works! This year, my friend Sam is having us all over to her house and we're probably going to trick or treat around her neighborhood. Even if it's just for a little while-her neighborhood gives out full size cacndy bars, chili, and hot apple cider. Plus, they expect older kids over younger ones, since the whole neighborhood has grown up. Then we'll probably head back to her house, play Rockband and get sugar rushes.
Goal Number 49: Dress up for Halloween.
I'm thinking about going as a stereotype. Ben is going as a bro (you know, Bromance? The type of guys who are total toolbags and pretty much peak in high school?) and Ethan is going as some sort of stereotype. He said so on Facebook, but hasn't gotten back to me when I asked which one. There's this girl who comes into the cafe a lot who dresses like every day is Halloween. I might go as her...
Goal Number 120: Go pumpkin picking.
Pumpkin picking, to me, means picking out the perfect pumpkin. Whether that be at Lambert's or at a church. Who cares? I just want a good pumpkin.
Goal Number 121: Carve a pumpkin.
A Halloween classic. I don't feel like this needs to be explained any further.
Goal Number 120a (I see a typo on my list!): Go on a Haunted Hayride.
How perfect! The night before Halloween, go down somewhere to go on a Haunted Hayride. I think they still have them in Dennis.
Goal Number 130: Throw a mini Halloween party.
Friends having fun = a good party.
Five goals this week? I can do it!
Goal Number 7: Spend at least 300$ on myself - Completed!
This is one goal I wish wasn't done yet, but it has come to an end! And I loved every second of it.
From Hollister, I bought a sweatshirt on clearance, Huntington Surf Team. It made my friend jealous, since I suppose she wanted one first. I didn't feel so bad, though, since her name certainly wasn't on it. I'm not all that into 'claiming clothes', especially since everyone wears them differently. And a Glamour magazine, as my subscription isn't due until next month.
From Best Buy I bought a Britney Spears CD. I was feeling a bit down when I was shopping (an exfriend insulted my over Facebook. Mature, huh?) so I wanted a happy CD to keep in my car to cheer me up.
From PacSun, I bought flip flops, a pink zipup hoodie and leggings.
From American Eagle, I bought a 'favorite' long sleeve tee in yellow/gray.
From Forever 21, two necklaces. A silver camera and a heart.
And from the Boarding House, I bought plain white boots, which look SO boring I may just have to spice them up with little black puff paint flowers. Stephanie + plain white = not happenning.
A mini goal on the side.
I have to find an anniversary gift for Benji, as our two year is coming up in a month. Last year I got him 365 reasons why I love him, one for every day. I worked on it for a long time. I think I know what he might be getting me (at least I hope so) and it's the sweetest gift ever. I mean, if he didn't get it for me I would probably buy it for myself and tell everyone he bought it.
A necklace in the shape of the mathematical sign for infinity.
Now, seeing as Ben doesn't wear jewelry, doesn't need clothes, my stubborn refusal to buy him something for his car, and how laid back he is, I just don't know what to do. Google is failing me for once.
My first mini goal is to find an almost-perfect, if not completely perfect, gift for him.
Goal Number 5: Successfully write and deliver a five minute speech - Completed!
A few hours ago I delieved my speech entitled 'Big Moutain, Meet Little Girl'. It was about how to dress for a day spent snowboarding. It was difficult, and I swear to you that my voice was shaking. I swear that everyone could tell, too. But everyone's been telling me that I did a good job, so I suppose I should listen to them.
Ben did a great job too. He even got a few laughs. And our professor told us we spoke within one second of each other. Strange, huh?
Week Four: A Little Discouraged.
Two years ago, I was diagnosed by a psychologist with Seasonal Affective Depressive Disorder (SADD). This means that during the year when it's darker, cloudier, and has all-around less light, I show signs and symptoms of depression. I sleep more, eat more carbs (making my diet difficult when all I want is ravioli with alfredo sauce), get more sensitive than usual, and under stress I crack really easily. I mean, my Italian boss yelling at me to GO FASTER results in my eyes tearing up and going slower than usual. It's one of the reasons why I'm so passionate about snowboarding. It really helps.
A lot of people show mild symptoms of this, but mine are severe enough that sometimes warrent seeing a psychologist.
Why am I telling you this? It's because the past few days have been raining. Since Thursday the weather has been less than satisfactory. And because it's October, the days are getting shorter. My last week didn't go so well. When I had the oppertunity to clean my room, I slept on my couch. I couldn't stop swearing, especially talking to my friends. So neither of my goals were completed, but I'm hoping to do better this week.
Goal Number 5: Successfully write and deliver a five minute speech for Human Communications 101.
I have to present my speech on Wednesday, right before Ben does. I'm delivering it on How To Dress For Snowboarding, a topic I am VERY familiar with. I'm actually excited. Plus, I'm going first, so I don't have any time to sit there and think about how nervous I am.
Goal Number 7: Spend at least three hundred dollars at one time on myself.
I got my financial aid check! I'm going to deposit it later and then go shopping. I never spend any money on myself without buying something for someone else at the same time. I mean, last time I went shopping (with my boyfriend's brother who was shopping for his girlfriend's, my friend Lis's, birthday) I walked away with spending nothing on myself and fifty bucks on a sweatshirt for Ben. I suppose I compensated for Nick, who spent almost 300$ on himself and only 150$ on Lis. So my goal is to spend money on ME ME ME ME ME. I deserve to be selfish every once in awhile, don't I?
Wish me luck. Weather forecast says sun, so it's going to be better! It has to be. :)
Say goodbye to Goals Number 12 and 13
Unfourtunetly, today I'm waving bye-bye to my two passing math goals. And these two text message conversations I had last night may explain why:
Stephanie: What's the math requirement at your school?
Adam: Not too high. You mean SAT?
S: No like degree. What classes would I need to take to get degree credit? I'm trying to decide what to do about math this year.
A: You're probably all set already. I think it's just basic algebra, geo, and an extra program whether it be trig, math studies, pre calc ..
S: I'm taking intermediate algebra now. My professor fails you if you get a b-.
A: Do sme more research, I'm not one hundred percent sure.
S: Thanks. I will. I got a 75 on my last test and he gave it a fail.
A: Dick.
S: Seriously.
You heard right. A seventy five percent, aka a C, means an F in this guys class. And a conversation with Ben, less informative than emotional.
Stephanie: I want to pass but I don't think I can.
Ben: Just give it your best honey and if you don't want to then you get a nice nap time.
Stephanie: I'm going to try but if thats not good enough then oh well :(
So, in conclusion, I'm scrapping two of my bigger goals. I'm not taking college math next semester, even if I do pass Intermediate Algebra. Cape Cod Community College is, for me, to discover who I am and what I want out of life. That's why I'm here. I don't want to do anything with math, so I'm going to explore psych and teaching classes next semester. I'll fill my math requirement at 'real college'.
I'll be replacing the two goals with other ones, once I think of them, as Replacement Goals (RGs) 1 and 2. It's not a 198/365 project, afterall. No fair copping out of goals and not replacing them.
Week Three: A goal, another goal, and an award, oh my!
First of all, I recieved an award from my boyfriend's mother and sister! I joined blogger.com after they did, and let me just say, their blog is so cool. I love the mother/daughter dynamic they have. It makes me wish my mom knew how to use a computer so I could blog with her. Go check it out @ Two Hands Full of Daisies for fashion, recipes and fun!
Anyway, my award!
Blogs that receive the Let’s Be Friends Award are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers.
So sweet of them. :)
Onto my week! Short, because I've been busy. It's Thursday and Week Four starts Sundayish/Mondayish. Sahweet.
Goal Number 35: Get these kittens out of my room.
I love my boyfriend's cat, Floyd, and my sister's, Fifi, but my gosh are they terrors. I used to have pretty decorations, pictures, and oh my, a LAMP on surfaces in my room. Not anymore. We had the kittens in my room to keep them away from my dogs, who love to play but are a little rough for fragile kittens. My mom, however, let them out so they could play. Well, they're roaming freely around the house now. To complete this goal, I have to get my room back in order. And clean. And a lamp back on my bedside table.
Goal Number 113: Stop swearing.
Pretty self explanitory. My new friends have trash mouths, and I'm catching on. Bad, bad Stephanie.
I need your help!
For one of my goals, I'm asking for help from my readers. Goal Number 70: Write a successful blog. In my eyes, a successful blog is having 35+ (interested, supportive) followers. And I want to follow them, too! I love reading and learning about other people's lives. :) Currently, I have two. So, help me? I'd truly, deeply appreciate being mentioned, linked, anything. Or, even advice! Thank you so much guys. Love you.
Wish me luck!
Goal Number 107: Make Blankets - Completed!
The other day, Ben and I went to JoAnn Fabrics to pick out some fleece for a blanket for him. He picked out a blue blanket with kind of a little kid's underwater theme-I love it. It's got octopus-es with pirate hats, goldfish, treasure chests and sharks. It's so cute!
It took me a few hours to cut up the fabric to make it just right. Two and a half yards of material was pretty intense to cut, but I didn't mind. Seeing Ben sleep under it all curled up was enough motivation for me!
We've slept under it every night so far, since I bought the material. Even when it wasn't done! It's not perfect, but he loves it. And that's what matters.
I'll post this week's goals up in a few hours. I'm starving and I have to go get my check, even though the banks are closed. :)
If you're lucky enough to have a day off today, I hope you're enjoying it!
Shopping List for Goal Number 66
The beauty of this goal, "Number 66: Go behind my mother's back and buy everything I'll need for dorm life, so come fall she won't need to spend a penny", is that I have so much time to complete it. But, I need to get orgainzed. I need a shopping list.
And everyone knows I love shopping!
1. Sheets
2. Comforter
3. Throw blanket
4. Pillow cases
5. Bath towels
6. Lounge pillow
7. Laundry bag
8. Plates
9. Fork, knife, spoon
10. Coffee mug
11. Bedside lamp
12. Alarm clock
13. Garbage pail
14. Trunk and/or plastic bins for storage
15. Hangers
16. Desk lamp
17. Dry erase board
18. Calender
19. Computer
20. Printer
21. Surge protector
22. Matress pad
23. Stapler
So far, that's what I think I'll need. I'll probably add more and more to this list as time goes on, as well as cross things off little by little.
Goal Number 51: Drive to Vermont - Completed!
Yum yum maple candy, yum yum maple syrup, yum yum maple butter and yum yum maple jimmies. Bad, bad Stephanie for spending $130 in one day.
It was totally worth it.
On Monday after my last class, Ben and I booked it to Caffe e Dolci to pick up my check. We went to the bank, got directions and lectures from Ben's dad about going at a time that was inconvient for him to tag along, and finally, finally, finally I was behind the wheel of my beautiful car on the highway.
Ben fell asleep right after we made it through the Sagamore traffic. Which was fine by me, I got to turn up Miley Cyrus without worrying whether he cared or not (he insists he doesn't, but I'm sure Party In The USA gets annoying the fourth time a Nirvana fan hears it).
Ben continued to sleep as I drove through the beautiful city of Boston. No, really, people might laugh at that, but I LOVE Boston. The moment I pass exit 17 in Braintree and I'm able to see jets in the air, I get all happy and feel like I'm home. I can't wait to call the city of Boston home.
As soon as I got onto I-93, though, heavy traffic. I hate the word congested to describe traffic, but that's what it was. Under the tunnel and over the Tobin Bridge and I was home free. I woke Ben up for his turn to drive as soon as we made it into New Hampshire.
He drove through the mountains and I just lost myself in the scenery. We crossed the Vermont border and in no time at all, it seemed, we were getting lost in the small town of Quechee. Eventually, we found the little shop, which was just closing up.
They let us in, thank God, and we got our stuff. I spent fifty bucks on maple crap, but it's going to be worth it. I'll make it worth it. We literally stayed in Vermont for a half hour, but I completed my goal. So there.
No, it was a lot of fun. I love spending time with my love.
My last class was cancelled today and the weather sucks, so I'll probably go to JoAnn fabrics and get some fleece to start a blanket. It's the perfect cold, windy, gross day for a new fleece blanket.
Week Two: Was making Ben a Facebook a goal? Well, it should've been.
So, to sum up this week, two out of the three goals I set up to complete were, in fact, completed. However, I did subscribe to Glamour, completing another goal, so in a way it makes up for it.
I just finished making Boyfriend aka Benjamin aka Ben a Facebook. I had a good time doing so. He's not really into the social-networking scene, which is understandable, but I (selfishly) wanted to be able to have a relationship status with a link to his name. I suppose that's my middle school girl showing herself.
Oh, you know. AIM profiles with big I LOVE YOU JOE written in there. That kind of middle school girl.
Anyway, this week looks more on the busy side, so I'm setting out to complete two goals:
Goal Number 51: Drive to Vermont to get maple products.
Vermont is beautiful this time of the year, with all the leaves changing color and everything. GOREGOUS. Plus, I love maple candy, maple butter, maple syrup... my sweet tooth can't take it anymore. Let's leave NOW.
Goal Number 107: Make blankets.
I will buy fleece to make a blanket for someone. I miss doing this, it's therapeutic. Plus, the look on their face when they recieve it is great. Or maybe I'll keep it for myself. Who knows, I just know that a fleece blanket in the fall is a beautiful thing. Yes, yes it is.
I'm going to get my bum off the couch now to go do something slightly productive. Wish me luck for this week!
Goal Number 27: Send Friends A Care Package - Completed!
I went shopping today before my doctor's appointment, and after wandering around Shaw's for fifteen minutes, I finally settled on four little things to send Alli while she's away at URI.
A Hershey bar, cookies and popcorn. Some little things that she could easily get on her own, but since they're from me, they'll be special-er. The chocolate because it cures any Boy Blues, the cookies and popcorn because it's great.
I'm going to physically send it tomorrow, as by the time I have to go out (as gas is so precious), the post office will be closed.
I just have to write her a little note, and I'll be all set!
Tuesday, September 29, 2009
Goal Number 98: Subscribe to Glamour Magazine - Completed!
I just placed my order for Glamour, which should be arriving in either November or December. I'm secretly in love with fashion, and Glamour is a great mix of that. guys, dating, etc. I'm excited to get in touch with my fashionista side.
Glamour was the magazine that inspired my recent love of leggings, or as I call them, "socially acceptable sweatpants". The other day, I wore a large flannel-looking shirt from Forever 21 and a pair of black leggings, also from Forever 21. I straightened my hair and did my makeup. I felt hot.
But anyway, Glamour magazine....
My second goal! Complete!
Goal Number 80: Open A Savings Account - Complete!
I opened a savings account today!
I walked into the local bank after my shift at work was (finally!) over. I waited in the line, asked the teller who to talk to, and was directed to a nice older woman named Debbie. She helped me open my account, and bam! I have savings!
Okay, so far it's only fourty bucks, but hey! It's something!
Afterwards, I was so proud of myself that I took the scenic route home, walked my sister's dog, and picked my sister up.
I feel good. :)
Week One: Ready, Set, Go!
Why only two hundred goals? Why not three hundred sixty-five? Make us want to read your blog, damnit!
Look at the scale of some of these goals. Number three, for example, take a cross country road trip. Can I really do that in a day? No! Luckily, some of these other goals are incorportated in it. See Ellis Island and Ground Zero, for example. Number 24, run a half mile. I have no time to do that one day and teach my sister to surf (goal number twenty-two) the next.
Point: 365 goals cannot be completed in 365 days.
This week, I plan to commit to doing three goals:
Goal Number 57: Join a gym.
I'm seriously lacking in the fitness area, and I want to get better. Give me an iPod, a treadmill, an eliptical machine, and a bottle of water and I could very well be a happy girl. I'm not disiplined enough to go on a diet, so I might as well get off my butt and run. Plus, I get nice looks when I'm fit. You know what I'm talking about.
Goal Number 80: Open a savings account.
The benefits of starting to save early on are tremendous. In ten years, I could have over ten grand. Who doesn't want ten grand to fall back on? Plus, with compound interest and what not, by the time I'm at retirement age, I will have a nice little cushion of money when my income gets slashed to bits. Who could complain?
Goal Number 27: Send my friends a care package at college.
Okay, so friends is going to have to be friend, since the only one who needs a care package is Alli. I love Alli and I miss her terribly, and she would appreciate a care package full of candy, cookies, love and condoms the most. The condoms are, of course, a joke, since Alli is a virgin yet still the only person I know who's comfortable to talk about sex with strangers.
Hopefully, by the end of this week, I'll be well on my way to starting this list. You should have seen me last night, two goals away from having it done. My boyfriend, Ben, was next to me watching Pawn Stars on The History Channel, his dad was hootin' and hollerin' about God only knows what, and I just couldn't pay attention to my list. But I finished it, and I'm so ready to begin my year.
Here goes nothing, everyone. Wish me luck.
Contender: Me, myself, and I, with some assistance from my family and friends. Come on, no one ever gets anywhere without their loved ones. And the ones that say they do are lying.
Who am I, you ask? My name is Stephanie. Stephanie's it. I have no nicknames. I despise being called Steph or Stephie or Phanie, for Heavens sake. I'm eighteen years old and in my freshman year of (stinkin' community) college. I live on Cape Cod, where you've probably been if you've ever looked at a "World's Best Beaches" calendar. Yes, I have one in my room. Yes, a beach in the next town over is featured in January, among Hawaii and Fiji and Jamaica. My boyfriend and my sister are my very best friends, but you'll quickly learn that I call everyone my best friend. The distinction between family and friends isn't clear with me. I like the color pink. Anything else you need to know, you're just going to have to read on.
